HPV IMPLICATED IN THROAT AND NECK CANCER

I have read an article on Yahoo today that reported that Neck and Throat cancer is on the increase and they put it down to the Human Papilloma Virus(HPV). This Virus is responsible for warts, including genital warts and according to the article it can be passed to sexual partners by oral sex. This Virus is also linked with cervical cancer

There are over 100 subtypes of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Most do not cause significant disease in humans. However, some subtypes, notably types 16 and 18, 31 and 33, have been confirmed as agents which cause cervical cancer. 'High risk' HPV types have been found to be present in close to 100% of all cervical cancers.
